You can easily adjust your seat behind the wheel in either car. The Kia Sorento has an available 14-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with 2-way power lumbar support. The CR-V has a standard 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat along with 2-way power lumbar support.

While both SUVs provide drivers with the ability to enjoy their drive, the Kia Sorento has a brand that reliably produces clarity and oomph in its sound system.

Honda CR-V vs Kia Sorento: Performance

The Kia Sorento and the Honda CR-V are known for having quiet, comfortable rides. They also both offer efficient fuel economy ratings, helping you drive farther for longer.

The Honda CR-V, on the other hand, comes standard with a turbocharged in-line 4-cylinder engine that’s paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission. This gives the CR-V 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque in the base trim level. The 2023 SUV nets an EPA-estimated 28 city/34 highway MPG on both the EX and EX-L trims.²

Our verdict? The Honda CR-V averages a more efficient ride. If you need more power, however, you can use the available engine of the Kia Sorento.

Comparing Hybrid SUVs

The Kia Sorento and Honda CR-V are available as hybrid SUVs. This combination of a conventional engine with an electric motor allows for a more efficient drive.

The Kia Sorento Hybrid has a 1.6L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a full parallel hybrid system. It produces an EPA-estimated 35 city/33 highway MPG.¹ The engine maintains the SUV’s knack for power by reaching 261 total system horsepower.

If you’re looking for greater efficiency, though, you’ll prefer the hybrid option from Honda. Like its fellow models, the Honda CR-V Hybrid has an in-line 4-cylinder engine that generates 204 total system horsepower. It also achieves a similarly high MPG rating as the hybrid Kia Sorento.

What does this add up to for you? Like its non-hybrid trims, hybrid models of the Kia Sorento offer the opportunity for more power while hybrid CR-V models provide more efficiency.

Measuring Everyday Capability
