Chevy Cruze vs Ford Focus
You’ve probably seen the Chevrolet Cruze and the Ford Focus out on the streets of Indianapolis, Plainfield, and Bloomington. Seeing as they’re some of the most fuel-efficient compact sedans on the market today, that’s no surprise.
If you’re wondering which vehicle would be the best option for you, our team here at Andy Mohr Automotive is here to help. It’s the Chevy Cruze vs. Ford Focus! Join us as we explore their performance, interior amenities, and safety features.
Fuel-Efficient Performance
Both sedans offer a number of engine choices. You can choose from two different engines with the Chevy Cruze, including a diesel option. With the Ford Focus, however, you’ll get four available engines. Let’s talk about the gas engines that get the best fuel economy.
The 1.4L Turbo ECOTEC® engine, which is standard on the Cruze, cranks out 153 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. When partnered up with the 6-speed automatic transmission, it gets an EPA-estimated 28 MPG city and 38 MPG highway.
The Ford Focus can be outfitted with the available 1.0L EcoBoost® engine, which produces 123 horsepower and 125 lb-ft of torque. When it’s paired up with the 6-speed manual transmission it gets an EPA-estimated 30 MPG city and 40 MPG highway.
For top-notch fuel economy, you may want to consider the 1.6L Turbo-Diesel ECOTEC® engine, available on the Cruze. It turns out 137 horsepower and a ramped-up 240 lb-ft of torque. A 9-speed automatic transmission helps this engine get an EPA-estimated 30 MPG city and 45 MPG highway.
Interior Space and Comfort
These sedans both offer seating for five passengers. Front seat passengers will have plenty of room to stretch out in both models. The Ford Focus offers 38.3 inches of front headroom and 43.1 inches of legroom. The Chevy Cruze has a similar amount of space, with 38.9 inches of front headroom and 42 inches of legroom.
When it comes to staying connected on the go, both vehicles offer a large touchscreen display. The Cruze comes standard with a 7-inch color display, but you’ll be able to see a little bit more with the available 8-inch display of the Focus. You’ll have the advanced connectivity of available Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ integration in both models, too!
These sedans have spacious trunks to hold all your cargo. You’ll have 13.2 cubic feet of space with the Ford Focus and 14.8 cubic feet in the Chevy Cruze. Plus, the available 60/40 split rear seatbacks will give you enough room to store some bulky cargo.
Innovative Safety
Both models have an array of safety and driver-assistive technologies that will make you more confident behind the wheel.
The BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) is available on the Ford Focus. It will warn you if a vehicle is detected in your blind spot while driving forward. The Chevrolet Cruze is equipped with a similar feature known as Lane Change Alert with Blind Zone Alert.
You also have the convenience of Rear Cross Traffic Alert, available on both vehicles. This system will make it easier to back out of a tight parking space. It’ll alert you to cross-traffic from the left or right while in reverse.
Both the Chevy Cruze and the Ford Focus can be equipped with an available Lane Keep Assist System. It’ll alert you if you begin to drift from your lane and may even provide gentle steering assistance to help guide you back.
